Align Technology, the parent company of Invisalign, was founded in 1997 by Zia Chishti and Kelsey Wirth in San Jose, California.
Dr. Charles Kim will examine your teeth and take x-rays to look for signs of an infection and determine if you are a suitable candidate for a root canal.
Dr. Kim will administer local anesthesia to numb your mouth before drilling a hole into your tooth so we can access the dental pulp. All of the dental pulp, including the root, will be removed.
Each tooth contains 1-4 canals. Every canal in the tooth will be thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and reshaped.
The inside of your tooth will be filled with gutta-percha and the access hole will be sealed with a permanent filling. Some rear molars may need a dental crown to protect the tooth from wear and tear.
Traditional braces involve bonding metal brackets and wires to your teeth. While not the most discreet treatment, it is the most effective at correcting severe malocclusions in a faster time frame and is the most affordable.
Ceramic braces are a more aesthetic alternative to traditional braces because they use tooth-colored brackets that blend in with your teeth. They are also more effective at shifting the teeth than clear aligners.
These braces are made of the same metal brackets and wires like traditional braces, except they are placed on the inside (back) of the teeth. This gives you the ability to better hide them for photos, though they may still be visible from certain angles. These braces are just as powerful as traditional braces at shifting your teeth but are more costly.
These braces replace the need for elastics to secure the archwire to your brackets. Instead, the wire is held in place with the brackets or wires that are in place. By nature, they are always activated and don't require as much routine tightening. An advantage of self-litigating braces is that they can shift the teeth even faster than traditional braces.
We carry Invisalign, which is the leading clear aligner brand on the market. Patients can enjoy the aesthetic and more hygienic nature of Invisalign but should be aware that they need to wear the aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day. They can correct tooth and bite problems or can be paired with Invisalign attachments to address more severe orthodontic issues.
The wires used for metal braces were invented by NASA.
By undergoing orthodontics as an adult, you will correct problems that would otherwise stick around for the rest of your life. Crooked teeth can make it more difficult to thoroughly brush and floss your teeth. As a result, this can increase your risk of tooth decay and gum disease.
A misaligned bite may also increase your risk for TMJ, bruxism, sleep apnea, and headaches. Orthodontic treatment can solve all of these problems. You will feel more confident in your smile, relieve pain associated with misalignment, and even improve your overall health.
You are also the one in control of your treatment, unlike with early orthodontics for children. You can select your orthodontist and what treatment fits your budget and schedule.

The biggest difference in treating orthodontic problems in adults is that we cannot take advantage of the still-developing jaw. As an adult, your jaw and teeth have fully developed and the bones have fused, which can mean that correcting a misaligned bite, for example, may take a little longer than it would for a child.
You also have more options available to you. Clear aligners, for example, are removable plastic aligners that blend in with your teeth and don’t require metal wires or brackets.
These are not suitable for children and most teenagers because compliance with wearing the aligners is crucial. Adults with minor malocclusions or tooth misalignment, however, make excellent candidates and this is often the preferred method of orthodontic treatment.
Dental implants are the only restorative option that preserves and stimulates your natural bone structure.
